AI Text Rewriter lets you select text on any webpage and rewrite it using OpenAI's API with your own API key (BYOK). Your privacy is important to us.

Data We Collect

This extension does not collect or store any personal data on our servers.

We do not collect:

• Personal information (name, email, address)
• Browsing history or activity on other tabs
• Cookies or tracking identifiers
• Form data or passwords
• IP addresses for tracking purposes
• Device or hardware identifiers

OpenAI API Communication

When you use the rewrite feature, the selected text is sent directly from your browser to OpenAI's API using your own API key. This communication occurs between your browser and OpenAI only. We do not route, intercept, or store any of this data.

Data Storage & Retention

Your OpenAI API key and preferences are stored locally using Chrome storage API and never leave your device. No external database or server controlled by us stores your data.

Cookies

AI Text Rewriter does not use cookies of any kind.

Permissions

Permissions used: activeTab (access selected text on current page), storage (save your API key and preferences), contextMenus (right-click rewrite option), scripting (inject rewrite UI into pages).

Third-Party Services

OpenAI API - used only when you actively trigger a rewrite. No analytics or tracking tools are used by this extension.

Data Sharing

We do not sell, trade, or share any data with third parties.

Children's Privacy

AI Text Rewriter does not knowingly collect any information from anyone, including children under 13.

Changes to This Policy

If we update this privacy policy, the revised version will be posted on this page with an updated date.
